Software - the ever changing experience!
Having worked at Microsoft during the software industry’s formative years, I learned quickly that it is not something to be afraid of. That may sound funny but I’ve found many people to be totally intimidated by learning new software! That fear includes software updates too.
It’s very important that you team with someone who loves software, as so much of today’s business needs are met with software solutions. This includes internet applications/solutions as well as standard load on your computer software.
One of the ways you can get a feel for someone’s “comfort” with software is to ask them “Of all the software you use on your machine or via online applications - what do you have the most fun with?” Notice, I said fun, not “what are you good with” or “what do you use the most often”. When you find someone’s “fun factor” related to software you will likely also find what they are best at doing.
I could create a long list of programs that I use on my machine as well as via the internet to create solutions for my clients. I don’t simply because it changes so often.
